The Northern Beaches Clinicians Alliance (NBCA) is an independent association established, led and supported by local clinicians, to safeguard access to high-quality healthcare for our community. We live and work here and we’ve seen how the co-located public–private model gives our community the access, choice and continuity of care it deserves. We welcome the opportunity to work with government, health authorities and the community to protect what works and strengthen local care for the future.
The NSW Government has confirmed its commitment to retain a co-located public and private facility at Northern Beaches Hospital and to collaborate with clinicians and the community on how it evolves. That collaboration is vital because the data shows this model already delivers results worth protecting.

The only major hospital in NSW to achieve 100% of elective public surgeries on time.
72% of patients start treatment on time which is well above the state average.
92% within 30 minutes. Median handover 11 minutes. One of the best results in the state.
4.9 days on average which is shorter than district and state averages.
20,000 private operations
a year reduce public waitlists
by up to 40%.
NSW Auditor-General: ‘Built for top-quartile public service delivery standards.’ Clinical Excellence Commission: ‘Publicly accountable and privately efficient.’
This is a chance to evolve, not undo, what’s working.
Protect local access for every family on the Beaches.
Build a sustainable model supporting both public and private care.
Strengthen our hospital network for Northern Sydney and beyond.

Maintaining balanced public and private capacity is essential to prevent longer waitlists and maintain efficiency.
Cardiac, cancer, maternity, mental-health, neurosurgery and robotic surgery teams depend on co-location.
Nearly 80% of residents have private health insurance; keeping services local matters.
A balanced model helps attract and retain leading specialists.
Co-located care isn’t competition, it’s partnership that keeps services in the community.
Open engagement between government, clinicians and the community will be essential to design the best model for the future.
